When you send a service request
The request form asks for your name, phone number, town or address, and a description of the problem. Your email address, a photo, and how you heard about us are optional. When you press send, the details are emailed to Shane so he can answer your request. A photo is only attached to that email; it is not published or stored on the website.
If you would rather not use the form, you can call or text 781-820-4592 or email shane@smeredithplumbing.com.
How we learn which listing you used
When you arrive, the site notes which page you landed on, the website you came from (the site name and page only, never your search words), and any campaign tag in the link, such as the tag on Shane's Google Business Profile link. This is kept in your browser's session storage and is cleared when you close the tab. It is added to your request only if you send one, so Shane knows which listing worked. Your answer to "How did you hear about us?" is stored with the request.
Cookies, storage and visit counts
- Apart from the Google Analytics cookies described below, this website sets no cookies of its own.
- After you send a request, your browser remembers a random confirmation code on your device so that reloading the thank-you page is not counted twice. The code contains no personal information.
- Page visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or follow you from site to site. Cloudflare also hosts this website and protects it from abuse, which involves handling IP addresses.
- To slow down abuse, the form's server briefly remembers how many requests came from an IP address in a short window. It is not kept as a record of visitors.
Google Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and actions such as phone taps and completed requests. Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or your browser's cookie settings. Names, phone numbers, email addresses, addresses and message text are never sent to analytics.
Who receives information
Shane receives your request. Our email delivery services (Cloudflare, with a backup provider) carry it to his inbox. We do not publish requests or photos.
Your choices
You can contact Shane at shane@smeredithplumbing.com or 781-820-4592 to ask what he holds about a request or to have it removed. You can also clear your browser's site data at any time.
