Plumbing leak and pipe repair in Saugus & the North Shore
Leaks at valves, fittings, faucets and pipes. Shane assesses first and explains the repair.
Tell Shane where you see moisture or water loss and when it started. He assesses the leak and explains the repair. Most of the jobs below started as something small.
What we handle
A leaking valve or fixture
On one Saugus job an unused saddle valve leaked, and with no shut-off valves under the sink the owner had to turn the water off to the whole house. New shut-offs went in and the leaking faucet was replaced.
Corroding fittings
On a house in Lynn, corroding SharkBite fittings were cut out and the piping was repiped with press fittings.
A drip that causes a second failure
On a heating zone a steady drip from a purge draw-off burned out a circulator pump, and the hot water stopped heating properly. The circulator was replaced.
Outdoor spigots and lines
Old hose bibs swapped for frost-free ones. Before winter, shut the water off inside, drain the line, take hoses off and blow out the lines.
A leak you cannot see
Moisture on a ceiling or wall, or a jump in the water bill. Shane discusses the right inspection once he knows where it shows up and when it started.
A burst or frozen pipe
Shut the water off at the main and call. See the {{emergency-plumbing|emergency page}}.
Questions homeowners ask about leaks
Should I shut the water off?
Yes, if water is running where it should not be. Shut off the valve to the fixture, or the main if there is no fixture valve. If no shut-off works, that is part of the repair to discuss.
What should I tell Shane about a leak?
- Where you see the water or the stain.
- When it started and whether it is getting worse.
- Whether it runs all the time or only when something is used.
